"Despair!"

About: Southampton General Hospital

What I liked

not much!

What could be improved

My wife was admitted on Dec31st with suspected Meningitis. After a couple of days in the AMU of severe pain and sickness, she was transferred to the renal unit! On the 5th day, the consultant (renal) said we really need a CT scan and spinal tap. That took a further 2 days! I have private health insurance and despite BUPA saying they will help, they needed a consultant to give them a care plan. This still has not happened, now on day 8! If the Hospital are desperate for beds, I would have assumed it would be in their interest to vacate? Communication and coordination is pityful. I have used PALS to follow up who seem to have better communication skills. The registrar in the renal unit was very kind and attentive but not really his field of medicine. I despair!Care plansFollow upMeningitisAttentiveCommunicationKindPatient carePrivacyBedsRenal unitChildhood vaccinationRenalConsultants
