"Treatment"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Acute Medicine Crosshouse Hospital / Cardiology Crosshouse Hospital / General Medicine

(as a service user),

In the past 5 years my husband has spent most of it in and out of hospital he was first told he had AF and was treated medically.  He then became ill again with endocarditis and spent 6 weeks in hospital on antibiotics. After that he became desperately ill again.   we were then told he had a leaking heart valve at the time the doctor did not think surgery was required so was treated with medication.   after a time he was so ill they then discovered his thyroid was playing havoc in his body. During all this time he was given too much medication twice on his stays in Crosshouse hospital

Finally this year they decided to operate on his heart I was losing fast.  that surgery was done in April this year at the Golden Jubilee. I ask if the  surgeon wanted to see him after his surgery and he said he did not want to see him which I thought strange.

Finally after 9 months he was sent for a review and the doctor was shocked to discover he was as bad as ever so now wants to go down with the camera to see what has gone wrong.

As I have said previously on this site he did not have good recovery after his surgery and now I am so angry with all the treatment over the past five years I am going to put in an official complaint to the chief medical board

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Whisky,

It is with sadness that I have read your post and I re-read your previous one too. You have both had quite a time of it and I am so sorry that your saga continues. It sounds as if there have been quite a few unavoidable factors along the way and some aspects of his care that could have been better and that is disappointing.

Thank you for getting in touch, it is important for us to be able get the opportunity to look over things that were not been optimal so that we can improve things as necessary.

I hope that the doctors get to the bottom of your husband's health issues once and for all.

Best wishes,

Eunice

I feel that no one cares anymore and we are just passed around like a piece of paper. I don't think I should have to chase up doctors to find out what is going on. When I ask anything I can see the annoyance on their faces. If I don't keep asking I get told nothing its people's lives they are dealing with. I think the lack of care we have experienced is really awful.
