"Chondrosarcoma operation/Ward 4HDU"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

I would like to express my thanks and gratitude for the care given to my husband when he had an operation to remove his first rib, part of his collarbone and manubrium.  He was so worried and frightened about it all and the staff were so understanding and kind.

My husband has expressed his thanks, privately, to Mr Kalkat and Dr C Bond but, if I am allowed to mention names, I must thank Daisy, Goolnar, Mike, Laura, Reeva, Victoria who was just finishing her placement before going back to university, and others, who will know who they are, for their care and encouragement.  Not only were they good to my husband but also to myself, my son and his fiancée, my husband's sister and her husband; we were allowed to visit freely and in numbers above the recommended two persons per bed, having travelled quite a distance.

Understandably this was a very stressful time for all of us, made much more bearable by the wonderful staff.  Many thanks once again.

Dear Relative,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments, regarding the care and treatment your husband received whilst under the care of the Thoracic Team, at Heartlands Hospital.

I am pleased to read that your husband found the staff to be understanding and kind, especially as he was so worried and frightened about his procedure, which is totally understandable.

It is lovely to read your comments about how caring and encouraging the staff were and how good they were to all of your family, especially under the circumstances.

It will be my pleasure to ensure your feedback is highlighted to the senior management team and ward staff.

I will ask that your posting is shared with the staff, as I am sure they will be delighted to read your positive comments.

Once again thank you for taking the time to provide your comments, as all patient feedback is very important to us.

Best wishes

Miss J. Langham

Patient Services Officer
