About: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

(as the patient),

I am an eight year old boy. It's good here because you get to play with the toys and the playstation.

Also, the doctors and nurses are good.

Dad says - there used to be a play leader in the old hospital who was able to spend time with the kids, this was really good for the children when they're worried about their appointments and also for support for the parents and carers too. It would be excellent to have one back.

It would be great to have a vending machine here as it's a really long walk to get any food!

Also, there used to be a really long wait for the blood counts and people who arrived after us used to be seen before us. This seems a lot better now and things have much improved.

It's great that you like the toys and the playstation.

Regarding your comments about the play leader and the vedning machine - I will take these comments to the haematology/oncology department and will post back here when I have more information for you.

Unfortunately the haematology department cannot put a vending machine in the outpatients area as the vending machines in the hospital are supplied by a separate, private company,.

The haematology team have discussed the play leader issue at their operational meeting. There are some problems at the moment with staff sickness which has resulted in the loss of a play worker. Hopefully this will be resolved soon..
