What I liked

The coffee machine, the nurse who put the plaster on, being able to drop off by the door

What could be improved

A & E with broken ankle. Having been assessed initially, sent to X-ray (quite far with a broken ankle) without any assistance, and sent back from X ray - broken ankle confirmed - with no assistance at all. Bizarre that one can be diagnosed with a broken ankle and then told to walk half way round the hospital.

Follow up visit to the hot clinic, I was sent to the wrong clinic by Reception at A & E, as they didn't bother checking the list they had in front of them - again with no help.

No help with using crutches or any advice, the only advice I had was again from the lady who put the plaster on.

Subsequent impression and out patient treatment at orthopaedics and trauma much better, so far, more helpful, particularly the surgeons who have answered all my questions and given me a lot of choices. Not sure I'd have been told things if I hadn't asked though.

Anything else?

A & E must be a very difficult and stressful environment to work, but the staff really don't seem to give a monkeys - all the other patients waiting were a lot more helpful than most of the staff in A & E logo
