What I liked
After my trip to A and E yesterday in agonising pain which had immobilized me completely, I have to write and say how amazed I was at the standard of both care and courtesy in a very very busy clinic indeed.
From Dr Hassan, the consultant whose reasurring manner, thoroughness and humour made me instantly feel in safe hands to Grace the charmer who brought me my TTOs on the A and E ward before discharge, all the many A and E staff who dealt with me could not have been more efficient and professional on a jam packed unit.
It was encouraging to see team work and streamlined process combining to provide a very good service in these day when targets are as liable to thwart the patient journey as enhance it.
What could be improved
Wait time - but it was a freezing cold morning with a huge amount of trauma in so a wait time of 180 mins was better than I had hoped actually
Anything else?
Liaison twixt ambulance service and handover nurse could be better
Nitrous oxide got me onto the bed painlessly by the superb ambulance crew and then was the time to remove my clothing and put the hospital gown on while I was not in pain - not 10 minutes later when the effects of the gas had worn off and it was agonising removing my clothing
