What I liked

Never again!Attended for screening following discovery of a lump (was referred from GP).Was treated very badly from the start.Was made to feel like I was wasting their time (I do actually have things I would of rather have been doing!).It was never explained to me what was going to happen.Didn't see a doctor or nurse before any screening started.Didn't even get a 'hello' from any of the staff,except from the very pleasant receptionist.Came out feeling totally humiliated, belittled and with all dignity lost.Please-if you need this service-choose another hospital,I wouldn't wish the way I was treated on my worst enemy

What could be improved

Everything !!! At the very least a bit of compassion and understanding would help. logo

I am so sorry that you had such a difficult and uncaring experience during your appointment - especially for an appointment that must have been causing significant worry for you. My response is too late for me to have any credibility in trying to rectify but please be assured that although our Trust has only recently developed a process for reading and responding to stories here on Patient Opinion we feel strongly enough to be tracking back through older postings to be sure we continue to listen and learn.

At Pilgrim Hospital and across the Trust we have implemented a host of improvements from service pathways to clinical standards and expectations of our staff and stories such as yours are extremely valuable to us to enable the real patient experiences to inform our services.

Please once again accept my apologies.
