"Prescriptions"

About: Dykes Hall Medical Centre

I posted my prescription through the surgery letter box on Tuesday 31st October. I was initially surprise to find the surgery closed but presumed that they had started closing for lunch.Today I walked to the surgery i( I live near Rivelin) in pouring rain to pick up my prescription and again the surgery was closed. However there was a sign on the door saying that when the surgery is closed prescriptions can be got from the chemist next door. As it is a week since I dropped my prescription request off I fully expected my prescription to be ready at the chemist, but it wasn't!! I was informed by the staff in the chemist that the surgery would be closed for the rest of the day. So I am now left with no tablets, tablets that I should take daily!! The practice web site still claims that the surgery is open all day on Tuesdays?? Would it not have been business like to inform patients of the change in practice hours and thoughtful to take all prescriptions that are ready to be collected to the chemist next door. I have been a patient of this practice for over 30 years and getting an appointment has always been a challenge, now seemingly a weeks notice is not long enough for a prescription to be ready. Maybe updating the web site on opening hours would be a start!!

My apologies for the hassle you have had trying to obtain your prescription.

The surgery closing on Tuesday afternoons is a very new thing and unfortunately although we put it in the latest news on the website, we did omit to change the hours. This was a mistake and has now been rectified. The Pharmacy next door has informed us that we cannot take our prescriptions there at all when we are closed, unsure why they have taken this decision but we have re-checked this information and they are sticking to this decision.

You can however now request that your prescription is sent electronically to any pharmacy of your choice, this is not available for all medications currently but we would inform you if this was not possible for you.

This would mean that you would only need to request it from the surgery and then collect it from the pharmacy that you have allocated.

you will still need to allow 48 hours for it to be processed but would solve the issue of the surgery being closed when you are trying to collect it.

Once again please accept our apologies for the problems you have encountered
