"Poor service!!!"

About: Highcroft Surgery

Tried today to get an appointment for my son . I suspect he may have cellulitis. People cannot afford to keep ringing on days when appointments are available and then be held in a queue! Today even though I was in queue position 2 I waited ten minutes to get an receptionist! Sometimes I've been queue position 22 ridiculous!!!! I can't afford to do this on my phone. First question, is it an emergency ? How am I supposed to know I'm not a doctor and if I don't realise it's an emergency how dangerous might that be? No appointments til end of September unless I ring back on daily basis. How on earth can I afford to do that? Iif I'm at work and need to keep ringing, my employer won't allow that! This surgery used to be brilliant this has changed dramatically since new surgery was built and opened! And... still taking new patients when existing patients can't get a appointment. so cross I'm making a official complaint too. this is not the first time this has happened. I've even had the 111 emergency service ring for an emergency appointment for me when it was classed as an emergency by them and even they couldn't get me an appointment .

Thank you for your comment.

I am sorry that you feel you have not experienced a positive one.

Did you know we are now running a same day walk in clinic?

This clinic runs on a Monday, Tuesday and a Friday.

Patients who feel they need to be seen urgently are able to turn up to the surgery between 8am and 10:30am where they will check in at the reception desk and will sit and wait to be seen.

The clinical team will decide the order in which patients are seen.

The reception team will only book you in as they are not clinically trained for this and cannot advise whether a patients symptoms are an emergency or not.

With starting the new same day walk in clinic, this has also had a massive positive impact on the amount of telephone calls coming into the surgery.

We have found our call rate has dropped enormously due to the same day clinic and patients now just coming down to the surgery which is now allowing for patients to get through to the surgery more smoothly and quickly.

Again, I am sorry your experience was not a positive one for you.

We welcome feedback from patients and should you wish to discuss your issues further or to advise on what you feel we could do better, please get in touch with me and we can meet.

Best wishes,

Sally Mutton

Practice Manager
