What I liked
The delivery department was fantastic. Apart from the room we were in was very cold, so much so that the midwife said it was very cold. After a very quick delivery we were told at 2:00 that we could be released at between 8-9:00.
We were sent up to the ward, and at 18:00 we were released. We waited all that time for something that was not done. Paper work was mis-laid, Staff were rude, un-helpful, dis-interested and bored.
It took 10 minuets to find a pair of scissors to cut the tag off of my babys ankle. The team did not seem to talk to each other and every request we made was met with distatine and annoyance.
Anything else?
There are too many people working on the ward. You have to tell 20 different people the same story, time and time again. A dedicated nurse should be assigned a small number of patients, with someone else backing them up.
But instead nurses turn up and try to do a procedure that was done 6 hours prior. The paperwork was filled in incorrectly. We were waiting for a test to be done, or so the nureses thought that had been done at 9:00 which is why we could not be realsed at 18:00.
I had to go back to the hospital to collect the "correct" paper work as the community mid-wife said that if they say they will send it, it will never turn up.
The delivery suite was amazing, very helpful, but the transition ward puts me off every having another baby, that staff are rude, un-helpful and bored.
The only plus is that this experience was so much better than last time. After making a complaint we thought it would improve, which it has. But its gone from dangerous and incompetent to very poor.
Sad.
