"Has been a great benefit to my life."

About: The Royal London Hospital For Integrated Medicine

What I liked

The staff were polite and my consultant talked over my problems with me and explained the background of my illness and possible cures. The hospital is clean and modern and there is easy access to information.

Anything else?

I have been a life-long eczema sufferer. I have used homepathic medicine and this has greatly reduced the symtpoms. This has bene in the form of homepathic tablets. Using this means I have an improved quality of life eg less visibly sore, burning dry itchy skin. I have also had a course of what is called EPD, homeopathic injections desinged to de-sentize my skin. These have also worked very well. It means I can sleep much better and under stress my skin does not flare up. I have been able to come off conventional steriod creams and greatly reduce my use of moisturers. The alternative might have been oral steroids, soemthing I would have been most unhappy about. I do think homeopathic medicine is a genuinely effective way to tackle illness that means avoiding potentially harmful medication. I think it is about treating the whole person. I can't say will work for everyone, as every body is different but it works for me and I'm sure many others too. It would be a real a shame if this service was no longer available. I can only asume it actually saves the NHS money as it taking people off potentially expensive medication, where the treatment works. It also, I feel, allows for more long term treatment of illness and its underlying causes rather than addressing the symptoms. Diseases like eczema are partly psychosymptomatic and taking a view of the body as a whole is what is required.
