What I liked
As a patient in the orthopaedic department I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to my care. From the time that I arrived to the time that I went home I was treated with respect and dignity and would recommend the Northern General Hospital with confidence. After visiting the consultant it was decided that my operation would take place in September . Although the spinal fusion procedure was a major one I felt less worried about such things as cleanliness and other issues as I had already had experience in the NGH due to double hip replacement last year when I received excellent care. As is normal after an operation such as the one I had the first twenty four hours are spent in the high dependency unit. This unit is absolutely wonderful with one to one staffing levels which gives the patient a feeling of being safe and well cared for . After being moved on to the ward the staff were very hard working and willing to help at any time. The food was very reasonable for hospital food with plenty of choice and the cooked meals always hot on arrival .Once again many thanks for making a difficult time as easy as it could probably be.
What could be improved
I really cannot think of anything meaningfull except perhaps the delay in delivery of the medication to the ward after I had been discharged.
