"I needed investigations and was offered..."

About: University Hospital Aintree

What I liked

I needed investigations and was offered various hospitals by my GP. Having researched matters I specifically elected to go to Fazakerley based on the fact there is a dedicated unit and I was encouraged by reviews relating to the consultants. My initial appointment and follow up has been in the new purpose built elective centre which is clean, bright and accessible.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

What could be improved

1. Appointments have been sent out very late. I have had 2 appointments and 1 procedure. On 2 occasions I only had 1 day clear between receiving the appointment and the actual appointment proper. This is pretty poor especially as I have a busy work schedule and it is unfair on work to give them such short notice.

2. Having undergone the investigative procedure I was told I needed a repeat procedure yet have been called back in the interim to see the consultant, seemingly without reason. The appointment was to my mind a waste of the consultant's time and mine with nothing achieved.

3. I appreciate that appointment times run over but we are talking about well over an hour on each occasion (when seeing the consultant) which again makes life very difficult with work.

4. I was prescribed medication following the procedure to which I am alergic, and this was despite being asked no less than 3 times before, during and post procedure about allergies.
