"Lack of empathy and people skills"

About: Barton Surgery

I found during my appointment that the doctor had no empathy for my daughters situation. It was like they had given up caring about their patients and were just there on the daily grind. They spent more time berating me for booking the wrong type of appointment than actually offering any help or advice.

There was no kind of acknowledgment of the issue, or assurance that we would be looked after. At one point the doctor just bluntly asked 'what do you actually want?' What most people go to the doctor for - some medical advice? Someone to stop and listen to what is happening to our daughter?

I think they assumed I was there to get some specific medication dispensed so I could be on my way. Sadly that's not the case, I was looking for help and got none.

To balance this out there is another doctor at the surgery who is the opposite of this. Make sure you see them, or move to another surgery.

We are sorry you have had cause to complain about the service you received recently at our practice.

We do care about our patients and the care given and I am happy to make an appointment with you to discuss your concerns. Only by listening to our patients can we make any changes to the way we work and although it is never pleasant to receive complaints we need to know when we have got it wrong.

Regards

Tracey May 9Practie Manager)
