What I liked

Most staff were cheerful and very helpful.

What could be improved

Witnessed today in Birchington ward:

Staff carrying open card dishes of urine from catheter bags from bays along a corridor, spilling some along the way.

A member of staff dressing a bleeding wound without first washing their hands or wearing gloves (folding the dressing by hand first and placing it onto the wound) then handling other patients' personal property before moving on to other tasks without washing their hands.

Water jugs being replaced one at a time: the empty one removed to the trolley and the lid removed, a new jug put on the patient's table, then moving on to the next patient and so on. Perfect conditions for cross-contamination. Wouldn't it be better to remove all the old water jugs, wash hands, then bring out the new clean ones all at once?

Anything else?

Waiting around for hours with no information is very depressing. Would it be too much trouble for staff to tell the patients what's happening, and what's going to happen?
