"Outstanding Service despite a very..."

My family have been with the surgery for 4 years. Because I had my first child in this time I visited the surgery more frequently than I have been to the doctor's at any time in my life!

I've lived all around the country and this surgery really is outstanding. What makes them outstanding is the continuous drive to improve patient services. Overall the care we have received has been outstanding, but when care has not been 100% the surgery has proactively sought feedback from us to improve.

One doctor was incredibly empathetic after the traumatic birth of my daughter and the care I received from them was fantastic. They not only made sure that I was given all treatment I needed for my physical needs post-birth, but also was incredibly reassuring about the experience I had had. I will never forget how kind they were to me at my 6 week check up, a time of emotional vulnerability.

Lockside are especially brilliant with babies, as a doctor says they treat them like VIPs. As a first time mum with a baby who inevitably picks up all sorts from nursery, it can be difficult to know when to see the doctor. By using the telephone triage service you can gain medical advice without feeling like you're wasting an appointment.

The only occasion when care did not go to plan was when I used the triage service because my daughter had conjunctivitis. I was advised that the NHS recommends watchful waiting. The infection did not clear and my daughter ended up with short-term complications. Lockside called me after the event because they wanted to change their procedures to ensure a similar incident didn't happen again. They also advised me to write to NHS choices about the guidelines. A practice cannot work perfectly 100% of the time but to proactively invite feedback in this way to develop services is in my opinion, outstanding.

We are moving from the Stalybridge area to Sheffield this month and I only hope to have the level of care that we have received from Lockside in our new GP practice.
