What I liked
I was taken by ambulance to Rotherham hospital mid September after a bad fall. I was given an xray and told my arm was broken and the out of position they told me the bone would probably go back into line by itself, I was given no painkillers and told to go home and take paracetamol.
I was told to come back next day for another x ray and it was found my shoulder was smashed into 4 pieces as well as my arm badly broken.
I had to struggle home on the bus and hang around at home on my own in sheer agony for 10 days before an operation to put screws and a plate into my arm and shoulder.
I was admitted eventually to hospital Ward 2B,
The ward sister told me I was second on the surgery list ( this was at 12 noon) I was not operated on until 6pm that night. At 9pm I was taken to ward 2B and given nothing to eat or drink until I asked for something at 9.30 the next morning. 27 hours without food, yet given pain killers all night on an empty stomach.
At about 10.30 am I was told by the Staff nurse You are going home now.
Flabbergasted I got myself dressed and was escorted to my taxi,( No painkillers given).
My brother in law had to find a chemist open late at night as I was in agony.
I am very disgusted at the way I was treated, I have since heard so many bad stories about Rotherham hospital.
Just hope I never have to go there again.
S. Campbell.
