"The surgical team and midwives in he..."

About: St Michael's Hospital (Bristol)

What I liked

The surgical team and midwives in he delivery suite were fantastic. The day assessment unit midwives also displayed a wonderful level of care and compassion.

What could be improved

The aftercare. After being induced with a satisfactory amount of care for a very busy time and an emergency casearean, the level of care back on the ward went downhill. The ward was short staffed with ill/stressed nurses/midwives. I had to change my own sheet and that of my baby's on one occassion and push for an investigation to find out why I felt so unwell only to discover 3 days later that a transfusion may have been a good idea...

Anything else?

For a caring profession, some people are in the wrong job.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at our Trust. We will pass on your positive feedback to the staff in the Day Assessment Unit and Delivery Suite. We are very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience in our care after your birth and would very much like to hear more about the events that occurred so that we can understand exactly what went wrong and learn from this. In order to do this we would need some more details from you about what happened and the best way for you to do this is via our Patient Support and Complaints Team (0117 342 3604 and see http://www.uhbristol.nhs.uk/patients-visitors-and-carers/patient-support.html for more details).
