"I was seen 5 minutes after arriving and..."

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

What I liked

I was seen 5 minutes after arriving and the sonographer was welcoming

What could be improved

As you walk into the Peartree clinic the main reception desk is supervised by the unfriendliest receptionist ever! She doesn't smile, acknowledge you're there or even look at you when she's talking to you. The other desk for letting the receptionist know your here for a scan was ok but I was very angry when I wasn't given a choice for another appointment. I have to come back for my 20 week anomaly scan and the receptionist wouldn't even check another day so I could find a more suitable time to come in.

Anything else?

Staff are very disinterested, I know they must see the same thing day in and day out working in antenatal care but there are many anxious first time mums that need reassurance and a friendly face on reception. I had my first antenatal appointment at Herford County hospital and would probably enjoy travelling half an hour to go there for my appointments than go to the QEII (even though it's 5 minutes to where I live) to be greeted by disinterested antenatal reception staff.

Thanks so much for taking the trouble to let us know about your experience of the Peartree clinic, which from the sounds of things was far from ideal. We know that your comments have been brought to the attention of the maternity team, who will be following the matter up on behalf of all who use this important service.
