"Having come from another hospital to..."

About: Frenchay Hospital

What I liked

Having come from another hospital to Frenchay, the first thing that struck us was the friendly, informative staff that treated us with respect & as if we were human beings not just a number or diagnosis. As we had come to a trauma clinic the service was going to be adhoc as patients had to be prioritised during the day as they arrived, which meant that my treatment kept being delayed. Although this was frustrating, the staff were diligent in keeping us informed, ensuring we were ok with refreshments for myself and husband. When the end of clinic came & we were still there, the staff enabled us to make an informed choice & helped me to have my treatment completed on the day by working overtime.

Without caring staff putting patients first the NHS would not function, I cannot thank the staff enough for going the extra mile for me, as I am sure they would for anyone else. Although they say it is their job, done with a smile & no air of resentment means the patient feels cared for. Thank goodness there are still staff prepared to do this in a climate of "efficiency" making it more tiring to give good care.

What could be improved

The repetitive paperwork, standardised forms that don't fit the patient or job being undertake. The cost of parking.
