"Mental Health support from GP"

About: General Practices in Grampian

(as the patient),

Earlier this year I made an appointment to see the Duty Doctor at  Inverurie Medical Practice. How very fortunate was I (albeit I didn’t know it at the time) that my appointment was going to be with with Dr Leiper. Without going in to huge detail, I was experiencing acute anxiety symptoms. As a Mental Health Nurse this was very difficult to come to terms with. Recognising that over the coming months information, support and guidance I gave to others in my professional role, I would have to adopt and implement for myself.

Dr Leiper was quite amazing. Throughout my illness he has been so very supportive and understanding. He has encouraged me and offered amazing professional guidance, not just as a GP but as a real person. Not once have I felt rushed, despite knowing how busy the practice is (the largest one in Scotland).

He has respected both my husband and I’s professional opinions, he has listened to my anxieties, challenged my thinking and I truly believe my recovery has been significantly influenced by Dr Leipers support. Thank you Dr Leiper for truly person centred professional support, a wonderful Doctor and a credit to the medical profession.

Dear springnt38,

Thank you for sharing your story, it is lovely to hear that you have received the support, understanding and guidance from Dr Leiper that you needed and that it has helped make a difference in your journey to recovery. It’s great to be able to share such positive feedback with Dr Leiper (and Inverurie Medical Practice) and perhaps your story will also give a little hope to others in the same situation who may be apprehensive about going to the GP to seek help.

Thanks again for getting in touch.

Take care,

Kirsten
