"Post Natal Physio"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a service user),

I had a complicated birth, forceps, third degree tear etc. I was in a lot of pain.

A physio came to visit me on my ward a few hours after I came out of surgery.

She was nice and I explained I was in pain.

She returned the next day and this time I went into detail about my pain.

I had no idea that physio even dealt with issues like tears and post birth problems.

She straight away took me to the physio dept and started ultrasound therapy and another wave therapy.

Not only that but the two physios that felt with me were so kind and understanding and supportive.

I was having a hard time in the ward and without exaggeration the physios helped me out of the despair that I was feeling.

There were there for me physically and emotionally.

I cannot stress how much their involvement in my care was appreciated and how much it helped me.

They spoke to the midwives for me and helped with my pain management.

Even after I was sent home I went back to the hospital for weeks to continue my therapy and every time I went it was like a boost to my body and my emotions.

I eventually was dealt with by a third therapist who helped me with my pelvic floor.

These 3 physios were simply amazing and I'll never forget how they helped me when I was at my most vulnerable.

Physios on post mat wards are amazing. I didn't even know such a thing existed.

Thank you.
