(as the patient),

I would like to say how upset I am at the proposed closure of this mental health unit in Preston. Inpatient beds are very much required, in fact we need more beds not fewer.

I encourage anyone reading this to support the group campaigning to keep this vital unit open by joining the facebook page Preston Needs the Avondale Unit (SAFE) and signing the on-line petition.

Thank you for your comments. As you may be aware on the 27th September, Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, along with NHS Central Lancashire began an 8 week engagement process to engage service users, carers, clinicians and other stakeholders in discussions about how the planned closure of the Avondale Unit in Preston takes place.
