What I liked

I was brought to a and e by ambulance on the 10th september and was identifed by the matron for treatment by her in a room. with dr, "Sam" tests and diagnosis followed swiftly. The speed of actionj to alleviate my immediate symptoms followed by referral to the specialist unit was excellent.

great care was taken to treat me with courtesy, care and compasssion to the highest levels of the mission statement objectives, I believe none could have been trated better.

I have experience of other hospitals in the surrey area and the cleanliness and attention to clinical excellence at F. Park far exceeds the levels of those others and their staff.

The nursing staff in a and e acted to bring great copmkjfort at a time of great pain and distress. the nursing staff in f6 were attentive, caring and communicative and made me feel they were always acting with my care topmost in their minds.

I am grateful for the care I received upon my unfortyunate return as well, the a and e swiftly moved me to the ent unit and sn ayrgh`s care.

It is important for you to knoiw that the client service dleivered on two in stays helped me greatly and achieved levels of professional excellence much greater than that delivered elsewhere.

What could be improved

on the second day (18th september) the nurses managed to get a doctor to examine me. when she arrived clearly dressed for a social occession she said she wouldnt examine me, that she didnt have to because the "weekend team" hadnt been told by the "week" team they had admitted me.

she said she was stopping my drugs and would see me with another doctor on sunday who would order observaqtion and i would leave on monday with the "week" team.

she contunially restyled her her from down to various bunches and "up", checking in thwe mirro on the wall whilst delivering this decvision.

i said i was written up for foolow up by a doctor that day to review the end of iv administration and move to oral drugs. she said I was to tell nurses of her decision and not have anymore .

That night i discussed this with the nurses who had had no such instructiuon to stop.

rthe next day she arrived with the registrar and we discusssed the seriousness of observation until monday. they then examined me by "scope" without anaesthetic despite having asked me if i wanted it twice and twice i had asked for it and said how well it worked for me ojn friday. They went ahead saying it usually made no difference. Iy hurt a lot and afterwards i was left with discomort. I complained to the site managed who informed the ward sister.

the registrar returned and discharged me to mky wife`s care ( she is a nurse). he told the doctor to arrange for the further drugs ( they were never stopped ) to be ready for her to collect later sunday evening.

the docotr did not arranjge this. neither did she return the notes which contained comments noted by the nurses about her treatment of me to my file.

the doctor was clearly inconvenainced by attending to me on saturday and communicated her intention to brush me off until monday.

her behavious stood out becuase everyone else was so marvellous.

Anything else?

I really want the staff, matron, doctor and the nurses in f6 to know i really am grateful for helping me through one of the most difficult episodes i have ever experienced. from the minute . the msatron and Dr. took me into their care I began to feel better

Equallly i would thsank the consultasnt who was back on durty for my second stay and thank all his team for their care.

The entire hospital appeared clean and in the p[rocess of being maintained to thoroughly excellent levels of hygiene as befits a real hospital of old. I have not seen such a clean facility in surrey nor London teaching hospitals including GOS & UCL
