I was made an urgent referral (Two Week Rule) for a suspected skin cancer by my GP.
I attended the Dermatology Department in Calderdale Royal Hospital Halifax at 1345hrs on Thursday 19 October 2017.
I tried to book in for my appointment at the Dermatology Reception but even though I had a referral letter from my GP Surgery there was no records on the Dermatology
Departments system regarding my appointment.
The staff in the Dermatology Department contacted my GP Surgery to ascertain the issue and it turns out that they had been a problem with the new system named Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and how the appointment was booked at my Gps Surgery.
Even though there was an issue and I didn't have an appointment booked, the staff helped me tremendously and
I was seen by the Consultant who was just brilliant and so helpful.
I was then seen by the Practice Nurse for a biopsy of the growth and I was stictched up and sent on my way to await the results.
The staff and the consultants at the Dermatology Department in Calderdale Royal Hospital are a credit to the NHS and I am so grateful to them all for their professionalism and caring attitude.
Not only did I receive 100% care I also witnesssed the staff helping others in particular an elderly lady who fell asleep in a wheelchair, and the satff covered her up and made her more comfortable with a pillar.
Please could you pass this review on to the Chief Executive of the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust so they can commend the Dermatology Department for providing helpful compassionate care.
Thankyou so much.
Jason
