After the terrible time we had at Stamford hospital on the 16.10.17 with the nurse that really didn’t want to check my son over with tummy pain as “we only treat broken bones not Illness , and we’re not an a&e !
I ended up getting my son still with bad tummy pain a appointment with the gp , where they advised we took him straight to Peterborough a&e with posssble testicel torsion ?
Thankfully they confirmed that this wasn’t the case and to keep an close eye on him due to where the pain was
So my issue was , if that was the case and he had been seen at Stamford that morning for advise
etc only to be told we don’t treat Illness etc ... what would have happened if he had , had testicel torsion which need an operation within hours ? Otherwise my son could have lots one of his testicles !
I understand the hospital is very busy , but I knew something was wrong with my son other than just a bug , I was very worried about him and to be questioned about me even trying to call the gp and then the nurse trying to call the gp to see if I had called is shocking ...
I’m a adult and would lie about calling them and not being able to get an appointment
All I really needed was resureance from Someone that knows what they are taking about whether it was a illness or broken bone or not ..
to be told “ I’m sick of people thinking this is an a & e “is wrong .. maybe next time just advise , we can’t help you here and then give advise to a worried mum
Would have helped ...
Thankfully Peterborough a&e where great with him , did all the right checks , nothing was ever an issue and we never felt like we were wasting there time ..
They gave us a 48 hr open lettter and if we were worried about anything to take him straight back , thankfully after rest he’s feeling much better
Still will not be going back to Stamford hospital in a hurry , unless I want to be quiestioned like a child ..
