"My sixth or seventh visit to the Eye..."

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

Anything else?

My sixth or seventh visit to the Eye Hospital outpatients department in the last few years and, yet again I waited for at least an hour past my appointment time with no explanation or acknowledgement. It appears that appointments are block booked and overbooked to allow for no-shows, which, of course, penalises the majority of patients who do turn up on time.

Once you do get to see the doctor you are so wound up by the wait that it is difficult to have a sensible discussion.

Not sure that I will want to go through with a second operation, especially after a dismal experience as a day surgery case last time.

I have spoken to the Patient Liaison Service, but just feel that they are there to make soothing noises and that nothing much will get done.
