What I liked
I had a hysterectomy at Kings' Mill a year ago, since I will not attend my local hospital (QMC, Nottingham) under any circumstances.
The hospital was beautiful, really nicely redecorated and with a sensible parking arrangement which allowed my parents to buy a weekly ticket to cover parking costs for the duration of my hospital stay.
My Consultant was lovely, the staff were absolutely fabulous and treated me as an individual from the start. They were very attentive, very caring, and we worked together as a team. This also applied to the anaesthetist, who was a darling man who discussed with me my issues over pain control and really cared about making me feel confident and involved in what was happening.
I had a fabulous room, all to myself, with an ensuite shower and toilet - very unusual on the NHS. Everywhere was clean and tidy, and all staff were absolutely super.
I am someone who is absolutely terrified of hospitals and doctors, particularly after years of totally negative experiences at QMC. Therefore, the fact that I was so, so, so delighted with the care and treatment I received, and the environment generally at Kings Mill Hospital, is very significant, I think.
I would absolutely recommend Kings Mill to anyone, particularly the gynae ward who provided such excellent care for me, and I am really grateful to my Consultant and all the staff for making my stay so very pleasant.
What could be improved
Nothing!!
Anything else?
Just a million thanks!
