What I liked
I was admitted to the ward A1 GPAU on Wednesday 8th September. I would like to thank all the wonderful nursing staff who looked after me.
These guys pull fourteen hour shifts for heaven's sake!
Not forgetting all the ancillary workers who brought me my meals and drinks, keep the place clean etc.
What could be improved
Communication, communication, communication!!!!!!! From Doctors to patients, and especially from Doctors to relatives.
The food. I'd have happily paid for better quality grub. Why give me soup so salty I could barely stand it. Don't you know about salts effect on blood pressure?!
Nasty heated moments between some of the senior nursing staff and the regular troops. Not in front of the patients please, its unprofessional. I know you have a little office to go in where you can bawl at each other, so why not use it?
Anything else?
On the first day I was told by a student doctor that I would probably be discharged at 11:30 that night.
On the second day, I was told by the senior doctor who makes the daily round (a locum!) , that I would probably be discharged that afternoon.
On the third day, after all my test results had been assessed, but not explained to me by a doctor, they finally let me go. People in a much worse state than I were queing up to use my bed.
