What I liked
Nothing whatsoever.
What could be improved
Absolutely everything. Attending this hospital as a visitor in June, I noted that little seems to have improved over the years. In my opinion, it is dirty. My experience has been that the staff have been rude and uncaring. I loathe this hospital so much that I have actually gone so far as to say, in my Living Will, that I would rather die than ever face treatment in there again. My voluntary work is in patients' rights, and all I ever hear from the people I speak to are stories that seem to bear out my own, personal experience of the place.
I had a hysterectomy at Kings' Mill one year ago today. They were fabulous from start to finish. I also had x-rays done at Newark Hospital, a few weeks ago. Again - very clean, great attitude, very professional.
I think the culture at QMC, and its size, are the two things that most affect staff attitude and the way patients are treated. I cannot recommend strongly enough that patients avoid this hospital - I do not have a single good thing to say about it.
"Nothing whatsoever."
