Reluctantly I opted for an elective c section. Despite early concerns I was extremely reassured upon meeting the surgical team. Both the anestheatist and surgeons were extremely approachable and put my mind at ease. Where possible all of my requests were met to allow for a gentle, family friend c section which really enhanced my birth experience. Throughout the surgery people kept me informed so I knew what to expect next, helping me to stay calm. As this was my second child it was good to see an improvement upon returning to the ward as previously I found the ward care to be the hospitals downfall. This time, despite being extremely busy the staff were attentive and really did provide exceptional care. They were very quick to respond if called and were very good at keeping us well informed with everything which needed to be done prior to discharge.
