"GP dismissive of my symptoms"

About: Bury PCT

(as the patient),

long story short, as a m.e sufferer, I have been had some bad encounters with more than one g.p, basically dismissing symptoms, and not reffering for very relevant areas

ME/CFS is a conditon where the patient is extremely ill and unfortunately some g.ps do not grasp the severity, which i find quite shocking . The cause is unknown, there is no cure, so a little understanding and some help with the symptoms is the least a very sick patient can expect. On GP was extremely dismissive to symptoms, and I felt very angry at was I feel was a lack of respect given to me by someone in a position of authority and in a position to help.

In my opinion simply referring to a m.e clinic, and then basically washing his hands of me is unacceptable.

Once I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome this g.p was no longer interested in what was causing it.

I asked him if he was as ill as I am; can no longer function, barely look after himself, constantly in pain, fever, cognitive exhaustion, physical exhaustion etc. would he try to find ways of helping with the symptoms or would he just accept that is how ill he is. To which he replied that he would accept it...needless to say I felt that this was a disgusting response to someone suffering.

I would add that I have had encounters with some very helpful g.ps and specialists too, but I think that this particular g.p needs to change his attitude.
