"My daughters hospital stay and unexpected surgery"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Medical Initial Assessment Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gastroenterology (Stomach and Gut) Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Surgical HDU

(as a relative),

My daughter was admitted to ward 101 to which we thought she would be seen in the clinic then discharged. Unfortunately this was not the case   was actually in hospital for three weeks. In ward 101   my daughter was treated with dignity and respect and all staff involved were fantastic. She was then moved to ward 104 where she stayed there for a further two weeks. This was a shock to her and our family but the care and support to both my daughter and myself was outstanding. Nothing was too much for any of the staff. There was a lot of uncertainty during her admission however nursing and medical staff were always on hand to offer emotional support and answer any questions. I feel they helped prepare my daughter both physically and mentally for the surgery she was about to face. I can't thank them all enough- they all went above and beyond their role. My daughter following surgery was in ward 217- the surgical high dependency unit, where again the care and attention she received was outstanding. On her first night post op she required a lot of support and this was never a problem. Her nurse Rebecca was amazing to her and this will always be remembered,   and we couldn't be more grateful. We are also very grateful and thankful to all the specialist nurses who have been involved in my daughters care. Lastly a big thank you to her surgeon who went above and beyond before, during and after her surgery. Every single one of you involved in my daughters care are worth your weight in gold. You will always be treasured by us. Keep up your excellent work! Thank you! Xxx

Dear Culsh 123,

Thank you so much for taking the time to feed back about your daughter's experiences in her recent admission in what must have been a difficult and stressful time for you and your daughter. I really hope your daughter is now well on her way to recovery.

The team will be delighted to hear your feedback.

Many Thanks

Maxine Callow
