"Ultrasound department"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I visited the qmc ultrascan department, I told them I couldn't be seen by a male nurse or doctor, due to that I had been raped earlier in my life. They said this was no problem. I was sent from Ilkeston hospital to Nottingham because they had female nurses and doctors whom could look inside me with a camera and do an ultrasound scan.

We could hear the nurses talking, says the female nurse was not there. When they shouted my name it was a female nurse and she knew I couldn't been seen by a male nurse or doctor as we heard them talk about me.

She told me to get on the bed and lower my trousers and put my top up to my bust, I got ready and a male nurse came in, I had a panic attack caused through him coming in the room. He went out and my husband and the female nurse had to help to calm me down. I ran out of the room to the toilet to cool me down with cold water. If it hadn't been for my husband I would have walked out of the hospital, but he helped to calm the problem down.

They did get a female nurse to do the ultrascan a few minutes late. But I had a few bad days because of the incident that shouldn't have happened.
