"Gynaecology surgery and Ward experience"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Day Surgery Crosshouse Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

All the staff in the day surgery area were welcoming and friendly. There seemed to be excessive admission paperwork for the nursing staff with many questions for patients being unnecessary and repetitive. I understand that all care must be taken to ensure safe treatment but I think it should be possible to streamline this system to save paper, money and nurses' time.

In the theatre area itself, prior to being anaesthetised I found Dr Agur and all medical and nursing staff professional, informative and kindly.

My post-op care in the gynaecology ward from staff nurses Karys, Lauren and Pamela was excellent. All other nurses and health care assistants who also looked after me were efficient and helpful. I was fortunate to be allocated a single room which was kept very clean by hard working and friendly staff, .

All in all I was very impressed with my two night stay there.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Hello again GlynisS,

Thank you for taking time to tell us about your recent experience. It is heart-warming to hear how impressed you were with everything (apart from the paper work aspect of your care). I am sure the staff would love to do less as well. I will make sure this is circulated to all of the teams you mentioned, I am sure it will make their day.

I hope you are well,

best wishes,

Eunice

Hello GlynisS,

I circulated your post as promised and I have had some responses.

One of our senior managers for maternity has informed me that there is a review of admission documentation to remove duplication and streamline the admission process and Dr Agur said “this is excellent for the team and service”.

Your feedback really is valued by the staff, thank you again for your lovely post

Best wishes,

Eunice
