"Not listened to"

About: Stratheden Hospital / Adult mental health

(as a service user),

Ok first of all I want to say no thanks to staff I came into contact with in Lomond ward, Stratheden hospital during my last admission.

I was admitted because I am still experiencing voices and have suicidal thoughts.

I was asked what would help, I said one to one chats about how I am feeling. Anyhow good old Lomond you have done it again... Admitted for 3 weeks for what? To walk up and down corridors all day, smoke yourself mad or sleep, you are given drugs 4 times a day along with food, dare you miss any meals, and you starve.

You have the nurses in one room whilst the students, who seem to glare at you as you walk past. You see a doctor once a week for 10 mins (they are magicians not psychiatrists as they are able to tell you in ten mins what is wrong with you!

The psychiatrist I saw seemed to be focused on alcohol.

I did not feel listened to and the nurses I saw all seemed too busy chatting to be bothered with me or other patients..Perhaps a bit training is in order here.

I signed myself out as I was sick to death of getting nowhere..

Disgusted

Dear "Danika"

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience in Lomond Ward at Stratheden Hospital. I was sorry to hear that you did not feel there were adequate opportunities for you to speak to nursing or medical staff and that you did not feel listened to. I will make sure that the staff in Lomond Ward get to see your comments and I will also share them with the Management Team. I would be keen to discuss your concerns with you directly if you would, at this stage find it helpful.

If you do want to discuss it further please give the patient relations team a call on 01592 648154 and they will make the necessary arrangements.

Regards

Ken
