"Wasn't listened to."

Arrived at the birthing centre as told as my waters had broken. Following an internal my contractions became intense and almost unmanageable. No one listened to me and acted like I was making a fuss. Was sent home at 9pm despite being in lots of pain and having contractions every 1-2minutes. Arrived home and contractions became really intense. Rang the centre at 11pm and still was not listened to. Luckily my partner realised all was not well and called an ambulance. Had my daughter on the living room floor at midnight delivered by ambulance crew. I felt like the delivery suite were not interested in listening to me at all just dictating it would be hours yet. Really really bad.

I have to note the Homerton midwife was called by the ambulance and they were wonderful. The people who have visited me have also been absolutely wonderful and supportive with breast feeding but the refusal to admit me and turn me away assuming I was making a fuss was an awful thing to experience. Women in labour should be listened to.
