Surprisingly unbusy department with only a couple of people waiting - I was seen before my time.
My male nurse did not introduce themselves and I was not made aware that they would be the one inserting something into my rectum when I am female and naked. I felt quite uncomfortable. Also, I had had several problems with the Gastrografin that I had to take, but was not given the space to talk about this despite mentioning it. I needed reassurance that symptoms from this solution were normal
Although numerous questions were asked by the nurse about whether or not I had a whole list of ailments like diabetes, heart problems etc no question was put to me about my cancer and whether or not I had had axilla lymph nodes removed. It was only when I could not decide in which arm, to have the injection of dye that I made mention of lymph nodules that (after referral to a doctor) I was told it might be dangerous to have the injection under those circumstance. Many people are not as knowledgeable or as vocal as me -so surely this should be one of your routine questions? I understood the radiographer would give this injection if necessary?
I did not feel I was being dealt with by a person who cared for my well being.
