I was scared as I had never been to a birthing centre before; having my other children on labour wards. It is save to say that it is the Most terrifying experience (birth) which was made so much better by the staff here. Would recommend to anybody giving birth.
My other births on wards were drawn out, snappy staff, uncomfortable beds, generally left alone to deal with the pain and trauma of child birth. In the centre the staff were with me on the telephone all the way from my house when contractions started (8 days before birth) to arrival. From arrival I think I was without a member of staff for a full 20 minutes ALTOGETHER.
It was a comfortable bed, amazing staff. They made me brews constantly asked if there was anything they could do to make things more comfortable for me. The midwife that was with me the most even stayed a hour after her shift as she "didn't want to leave and miss meeting the new arrival"
Pain relief was given immediately and when I required extra pain relief I only had to ask once
