About: Good Hope Hospital

What I liked

The nurses on AMU and ITU/HDU were really nice and cared for me very well at a time that was very frightening for me and my family. They not only made sure I was comfortable and well looked after but that I felt like a human being, not just a patient.

What could be improved

It took pharmacy almost 7 hours to sort out my medication upon discharge. It took so long that I was getting increasingly anxious as it still wasn't sorted when I was nearly due another does. Because of the nature of my illness I was very concerned that I could relapse and I did not want to go through that again.

Pharmacy had a very unhelpful attitude and it was only down to the great staff in the discharge lounge that I managed to get out with my medication in time.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear of the good service you received from AMU and ITU/HDU. We will share this with the Matrons for these areas.

With regards to delay in receiving your medication to take home, we have recently conducted a survey in the Trust to identify problems encountered when discharging our patients. Medication delays was highlighted as an area that needs working. Work will be carried out in the future to improve systems already in place.
