I have been trying for a week now to change the date of an outpatients appointment at St Mark's Hospital. As requested I have telephoned on 0208 2354051 but the phone is never answered.
On calling I am informed that someone will be with me very shortly and then subjected to mournful music while no-one answers the phone. On Thursday 7 September I waited for half an hour without reply and on Friday 8 September for another 35 minutes. This morning I waited for an hour between 11.15 and 12,15 without reply
How can I change my appointment if no-one will speak to me? No wonder so many patients fail to attend appointments if there is no way they can cancel!
The appointment letter also states that if I ring outside of office hours that I can leave a message on the answering machine, but the answering machine does not seem to exist as when I ring outside of normal office hours' the phone just cuts off after informing of the hours that the office is theoretically open.
Help! Other than going up to St Marks Hospital, a 2-hour round trip for me, what can I do?
