"Parking charge payment options"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

Is there a chance that QMC parking charges could enter the 21st Century and permit payment by card or by phone like every other hospital I have ever visited in the last 5 years in the U.K? I have just had the horror of having to use a payment machine in the dark, no immediate lighting to help me see what I was doing and no security patrols for safety. Having to rummage around to scrape up £6 in cash to pay the fee. Why in 2017 can I not pay by card. Why can I not pay by phone? Why is there no lighting at the payment machine to enable one to read the instructions and insert the archaic payment in paper money or cash. Who on Earth carries cash these days?

Thanks for getting in touch. It is appreciated. I’m sorry for the difficulties this caused you and that the poor lighting made you feel unsafe. We absolutely agree that we should be making better use of technology to make payments easier for patients and visitors. This includes credit card payments. Please can you provide details of which car park you were in and we will assess the lighting in this car park to determine whether improvements are required. You can contact me on 0115 924 9924 ext. 66623 or QMCPET@nuh.nhs.uk.

We’ve shared your feedback with our Estates and Facilities team who are discussing options for making improvements to our car parks and car parking payments with Carillion, whom we work in partnership with to manage our car parks.

Thanks again for getting in touch,

Sarah Kennedy,

Patient Experience Officer.
