"Brilliant cataract surgery"

About: Benenden Hospital

It takes some effort to comply with Benenden's requirement that you should go fully through the NHS referral system before they will consider you; and Benenden should give attention to making its requirements even more crystal clear for busy GPs!

That having been said, when the NHS agreed that I required a cataract operation, it agreed to treat one eye only, with a lengthy delay envisaged for the actual operation.

Benenden then moved swiftly and smoothly into operation. When their consultant re-assessed my condition they proposed that I should have both eyes dealt with one month apart. The process commenced within very few weeks and the two operations were excellently conducted by the same surgeon. The other staff were also helpful, caring and competent and a pleasure to deal with.

When the first cataract was replaced, I realised how awful my vision was through the other 'good' eye - and I am so grateful that Benenden decided to do both.

In summary, my Benenden experience was excellent.

Thank you for your comments regarding the referral process under your Benenden Membership which I have shared with my colleagues at Benenden Healthcare.

I am pleased to read of your positive experience whilst a patient in the Eye Unit here at Benenden Hospital and have shared your lovely comments with the team.
