"The cancer ward was faultless, it's as..."

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

What I liked

The cancer ward was faultless, it's as simple as that.

What could be improved

However the geriatric ward was as bad as it could possibly be without it being post apocolyptic. The staff were incredibly rude, the room was dirty and in poor repair, with foul bedding being left in piles in there for days. My father was terrified of some of the staff. They were rude in the main to us visitors too. Medication prescribed by doctors on the rounds was not forthcoming for over 24 hours. My father could have died without these drugs. All in all it was dreadful and we just wanted to get my dad out of there. Those on the ward should be ashamed of the way they treat the old people who are forced to stay there. They should have respect.

Anything else?

It all I suppose comes down to funding as the cancer ward which I assume gets a lot of bequests was absolutely fabulous, both for the patient and for the families; from the chief Doctor to the lady with the tea. All were brilliant. Unfortunately my dad was unconcious by the time he entered this ward so his last experience would have been of the geriatric ward which was so bad it is almost too hard to put it in writing. I was ashamed to pay my taxes if this is what service they fund.
