What I liked
I had an MRI scan at this hospital.
I cannot speak highly enough of the MRI department. I only waited 6 weeks for the scan after it was requested. I was in immediately on arrival. You are asked to arrive 15 mins before your appointment time which I did. I had been sitting down less than a minute when my name was called. The staff were wonderful. They were very welcoming and friendly and took the time to talk to me and ask questions about me, e.g. my work, while getting me prepared for the scan. I needed to have an injection of contrast dye, so I needed to have a cannula inserted. The staff asked me if I was absolutely sure if i had any allergies or kidney problems before they gave me the dye. They asked me again right before they injected the dye. Their dilligence made me feel in very safe hands.
My appointment was right at the time when some staff where finishing their shifts. But the person who put my cannula in came and said goodbye to me and wished me well and told me who was going to continue looking after me, which was very nice of them. When I went into have the scan, the radiologist explained how everything would work, how long it would take etc and gave me alot of reassurance.
After the scan, I was intruiged by my cannula as I had never seen one before. The staff member who was taking it out took the time to show me how it worked. I didn't want to go back to work after having the scan done and they helped me come up with excuses not to go back becuase of the MRI procedure. We established the contrast dye has no side effects so we settled on my arm being sore after the cannula (which it wasn't) as the best excuse to get out of work! So in short, absolutely brilliant staff in the MRI department: all of them!
Thank you very much!
