"The day staff did their best in all of..."

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

What I liked

The day staff did their best in all of the 5 wards I was in.

Many of the nurses were diligent and caring but this was spoilt by the few who seem to be just passing time.

What could be improved

The day staff did their best in all of the 5 wards I was in, however, at night time it was awful. Some of the nurses were talking loudly, doors were banging and sleep was nigh impossible. Some of the nurses were on Ebay all night and seemed to be just passing time before going home.

Many of the nurses were diligent and caring but this was spoilt by the few.

The toilet facilities were awful in the 2 wards I spent the longest time in with arctic conditions in two of them. Getting maintenance to do anything was impossible for the nurses.

All of the above applies mainly for night time and weekends which draws it's own conclusion.

I emphasise that most of the nursing staff were diligent and caring but communication between departments seems to be non existant

.

The food was often cold and usually awful.

The pharmacy seems to run the patients discharge procedure as there was always a very long wait for medication at such times. There is an inordinate amount of pharmacy staff who all seem to go home at 17:00 and are off all weekend. If new medication is required the nurses have to go and fetch it despite the number of pharmacy staff, counting pills.
