After being home for a couple of nights, my 4 day old son was found to be jaundiced and had lost 12% his body weight. The midwife arranged for him to be checked out on the children's ward. Unfortunately, his sodium was found to be high and we had to stay overnight. I was very tearful and upset (mostly due to hormones) and worried for my little boy, but every member of staff I came across was so kind and caring they made me feel so much better. I was made to feel that my son was in such good hands by everyone that looked after him, from the nursery nurses and Consultant, to the doctors, nurses and HCSWs. The domestic staff meanwhile looked after me and my husband and made amazing cups of tea and always had a smile on their face. I honestly don't think that anything could have been improved during our stay. These staff clearly love their jobs and the patients they care for.
