"Pain Clinic waiting times"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / X-rays and Scans

(as the patient),

I originally had an appointment with pain consultant in June 2016 and had to wait for my first treatment of cortisteroid injections until October. I was told I would get follow up injections in 6 months, which should have been April 2017. From phoning to enquire, on progress I have found out that the clnic is running 10 months behind. So not only have I not received a six month follow up, I am also going to be without an annual follow up and will not be seen until January 2018 at the earliest. My back pain started in 2012 and was not diagnosed with spinal osteoarthritis in neck, mid back and lower back until late 2015 by an MRI scan. I am in constant pain and unable to tolerate prescription medication.

Dear Very Letdown,

I am sorry for the length of time you have had to wait. NHS Lanarkshire is experiencing difficulties appointing patients who require a repeat procedure. If you would like to contact Yvonne Ross the Patient Affairs manager at Wishaw to give her your details, this would allow me to check to see when we can appoint you for your procedure.

Regards

Pauline
