What I liked

From the first appointment I had ,to being discharged ,the staff could not be faulted.

At my initial appointment I wished to be seen by a consultant and not a junior doctor and this was done without me feeling guilty.

My consultant gave me an admission date on the day and this was adhered to.

Somewhat anxious at my pre-operative appointment the nurse I saw was reassuring as well as informative. I felt un-rushed. This took slightly longer than I was led to believe but there were no queues for blood and ECG tests.

Although I had to wait some time to be admitted onto the ward, M1, I appreciated it was dinner time and people were coming back from theatre, but I was grateful for having someone with me at this time, as opposed to being just dropped off and left on my own.

The nurse who admitted me was, again, very reassuring and friendly.

I was walked down to theatre by a friendly H.C.A. who kept me entertained while I was waiting to go in to the theatre.

The anaesthetist must be amazing; I walked in the ante room at 4.35 p.m. for a 30-40 minute procedure and at 5.50p.m. I was back on M1 sipping water.

My consultant, who seems, at this moment in time, to have done a good job, visited me both mornings- didn't leave it to his staff.

All the staff on the ward were so caring, from the Sister, ( who got stuck in and wasn't just an administrator/delegator,) to the student nurse.

At no time did I feel pain. The meals were tasty and very acceptable considering how big a job catering for un establishment this size must be. At all times I felt cared for and reassured. At no time was my dignity threatened. I cannot praise the consultant, his staff and the staff on M1 enough. Thank you so much.

What could be improved

Nothing
