I think my original review may have been lost but I will try again.
My younger sister who had learning difficulties was in Pod C, bed 29 in May of this year.
She suffered a major brain injury brought on my cardiac arrest due to a seizure.
Unfortunately, she did not recover.
However, everyone from the Paramedics to the staff of all levels in A & E to ICU were fantastic.
They treated her with total respect and dignity.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The Nurses and Dr's worked together and kept us informed at all times.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Everything that could be done was carried out with dignity and respect.
My sister was clean and looked after, somebody was with her most of the time.
Everybody was interested in my sister and wanted to know all about her life, even down to her favourite food and pop group! Even called her by her nick name.
At the end of treatment, the Palliative Nurse took a hand print for us to keep. We even got a little "Thinking of you card" about a month after my sister had passed away.
Although heartbreaking and grief stricken as a family, we know that everything that could have been done was done and that her passing was peaceful and undisturbed.
So a huge thank you on behalf of the family, we appreciate everything you have and did do.
Huge respect for you guys!
"ICU were amazing!"
